Your brand is murky. Because you're too close to it.
Every business owner we've worked with arrives with some version of the same confession. They know what they do. They just can't explain it in a way that lands. Someone told them to jump on Canva, pick some colours they like, and sort out their socials. So they did. And something still feels deeply, inexplicably wrong.
That feeling is not a design problem. It's a clarity problem.
The questions that seem simple on the surface, what's our name, what do we stand for, who are we actually talking to, turn out to be the hardest questions a business ever has to answer. There's no definitive Google result. No template. Every business is a different kind of murky, which means every project we take on is completely unique.
What stays constant is us.
Our direction. Our honesty. And the fact that we care about your business like it's our own. Which means we'll tell you when your name won't work. We'll have a better one ready before you've finished being disappointed. We'll tell you when the strategy you paid for is being quietly ignored while your business idles in the car park going nowhere.
We've watched that happen. We know exactly what it costs.
If you want someone to nod along and make it pretty, we're not your people. If you want someone to step outside the tank and tell you what they actually see, keep reading.

The favourite shirt with holes in the armpits.
Our best work doesn't happen with clean slates. It happens with businesses that have earned something real. Fifteen years of reputation, a loyal customer base, a team that genuinely believes in what they're building. And a brand that stopped keeping up somewhere along the way.
You know something is wrong. You can feel it. You just can't pinpoint it. And here's the uncomfortable truth about that. The thing that's most obvious to an outside eye is almost always the thing you've stopped seeing entirely. Not the dated drop shadows or the faux 3D logo that made sense in 2008. Something in the messaging or the identity that feels completely appropriate to you, that is actually more questionable than anything you'd ever question.
That's not a criticism. That's just what happens when you're inside the tank.
Our job is to come in, look at everything with fresh eyes, and tell you what we actually see. The sand, the coral, the fish. What's working, what isn't, and what needs to be arranged properly before anyone flicks the lights on.

Stop. Before you do anything.
You worked hard to get here. Years of building, refining, delivering. Don't undo it in a matter of moments by making decisions based on someone's passing comment, a competitor's rebrand, or a trend that'll look dated in eighteen months.
The most common mistakes we see aren't made by careless business owners. They're made by ambitious ones who are too close to the problem. Sound familiar?
Changing everything because someone told you it looks tired. It might. That's not a reason to throw the baby out with the bath water. Chasing trends that have nothing to do with your business, your values, or your customers. Following competitors instead of leading. You'll spend your whole career chasing instead of being the great white shark.
Before you touch anything, pause. Reflect on what got you to this point. Find an external set of eyes who can tell you what they actually see, not what you want to hear. Talk to your team. More importantly, talk to your customers. Find out how your business is actually perceived right now, and whether that matches the vision you started with.
That gap between perception and vision is exactly where we work.

Identity design that amplifies strategy. Not decorates it.
A Snapper Studio identity starts with a single question. How do we make this completely different, and what visual systems will carry that difference into everything the business touches?
Visual systems sounds technical. They aren't. It's how we connect font choices, colour palettes, layout grids and imagery directions into something coherent and deliberate. Not incoherent and dribbling.
When it works, every element earns its place. Nothing is decorative. Nothing is accidental.
Our internal quality filter is simple and fairly unforgiving. If we wouldn't display it on our own site, it doesn't leave the studio. That standard exists because we've seen what happens when identity work is rushed, templated, or built without the strategy to back it up. It looks fine for a year. Then it starts to feel wrong. Then the whole thing needs redoing.
The identities we're most proud of are still in use five years later. The clients who own them still come back. That's not loyalty to us. That's what happens when a brand is built on something true.

A process built around your business. Not the other way around.
This might look daunting. It isn't. We've done this before, and we'll guide you through at a pace that suits your business and your workload.
Most clients spend around 20 hours across the entire engagement. That's spread across discovery conversations, workshops and feedback sessions. The rest of the heavy lifting is ours. You bring the knowledge of your business. We bring the direction, the thinking and the craft.
Projects run anywhere from 8 weeks to 2 years depending on complexity and scale. A business refreshing a single identity moves faster than one rebuilding everything from the ground up. Either way, the process is the same. Each stage comes back looking better than the last, and by the end you'll feel genuinely understood rather than processed.
This isn't our first fish tank set up.
Branding Projects
This is where the murk starts to clear.
Discovery and workshops are the deepest part of the process and the most important. Not because of what we produce, but because of what shifts in the room.
Every session has a moment. It's usually the quietest person in the team whose eyes light up first. Once they engage, the conversation takes over. Suddenly everyone has something to say, something to challenge, something to build on. Our job at that point is to manage the energy in the room, not generate it.
By the time you walk out, you won't be holding a report. You'll be holding confidence in a direction, and a genuine excitement about what comes back next.
What we dig into during discovery
Seven areas, all of them deliberate. No filler.
- Material Audit – a look at the visual brand
- Industry Analysis – to gather a deeper understanding
- AI-Assisted Research
- Tracking – measuring and communicating the value of the brand
- Competitor Review – understand their problems and their customers' pain points.
- Surveys - setup, survey and analysis
- Interviews - C-Suite, staff and customers
What the workshops cover
By the end of discovery we know where the gaps are. The workshops are where we fill them, together.
We gather the key stakeholders and work through the strategic foundations your brand needs to stand on. It's intense. It's focused. And people consistently leave with more clarity about their business than they've had in years.
This workshop approach comes from The Murky Paradox, a framework built over 20 years. Here's the full breakdown.

Branding Client Feedback
"The brand situation before we started working together was pretty dismal. We had a vision but it just wasn't quite there yet... until Martin! Previously everything was inconsistent and misaligned. Infuse Health became a recognised brand once it was all pulled together and brand consistent. In our experience, stay away from anyone with a sales team. Working with Martin was flexible and relaxed. He is an excellent listener and willing to do the work with you, making dreams into reality."

"Before reaching out to you, I was worried about the cost and being able to establish a usable brand in the time I had budgeted for. But, I felt supported in the process, and you got back to me quickly and efficiently, which suited me well. You were responsive to my suggestions and were open to the evolution of the brand. It has been great working with you, and I love what we have developed. I have loved working with you so much. I recommended you recently to a colleague in NZ. You are prompt, no fuss, effective, supportive, creative and intuitive. You and your service is worth every cent. Thank you SO much Martin. The working relationship with you makes me feel really supported. I don’t think I could have gotten to this stage without being able to bounce business stuff around. What you do is very specialised!
